When you go out with your family, it is important to think about where you’re making purchases so you can help your community.
When you buy local, you help a family, a mother, a father, and their kids, and you’re creating jobs.
According to the San Diego Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in the county:
- More than 50,000 people are employed by Latino businesses
- Latino businesses generate more than $4 billion in sales
- Latino businesses pay more than $1 billion in salaries
When you support local businesses, you get quality, good service, and sustainability. You also help take care of the environment because there is less time, space, and shipping between the products and clients. Finally, the local businesses, society, and economy in many neighborhoods flourish.
Several websites and apps can help you find businesses in your area (I recommend the app My Premium Perks) and even help you find discounts.
Here are some tips for how you can support the local economy:
- Always try to use local businesses
- Be active on their social media by commenting and sharing
- Recommend local businesses to your family and friends
- Leave a fair tip
- If you purchase online, buy from the websites of local businesses
