TrueCare has partnered with Words Alive to host a series of interactive, fun literacy classes for children under 5 years old. These interactive groups (or cohorts) join an engaging atmosphere where children and their families can cultivate a love for reading.
The next cohort will begin on June 12. Parents, and guardians can register at https://bit.ly/tcwordsalive and choose “Wednesdays, 5:00 pm, IN-PERSON TrueCare Mission Mesa Pediatrics” to receive more details by text. Cohorts are also available virtually. See the link for more details.
Sessions are conducted in both English and Spanish to promote inclusivity. Classes are held weekly on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. over the course of six weeks at TrueCare Mission Mesa Pediatrics (2210 Mesa Drive, Suite 300, Oceanside, CA).
Grounded in the power of play, each literacy workshop includes a tailored information session and skill-building exercises, a group story time, and guided activities. Participants receive 6-12 books (6 books each series) over the course of the classes, and the weekly craft activities coincide with each book.
The classes are made possible through a grant from San Diego Foundation and Dr. Seuss Foundation to promote literacy and child health equity through a community program.
